The International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) is one of the first centers of excellence in the world dedicated to the research and teaching of counter-terrorism. It has in fact created a new academic field involving the formulation of research and innovative public policy in the field of counter-terrorism. The ICT is headed by Founder and Executive Director, Prof. Boaz Ganor, a world-renowned expert in the field, and former Chairman Shabtai Shavit, former Director of the Mossad.

The ICT has become a magnet for dozens of students who come to Israel from all over the world, as well as for FBI and CIA agents. As an academic avant-garde in the field of counter-terrorism and homeland security, the institute has had a significant influence on the development of this field around the world. Israel’s pivotal role in counter-terrorism research and teaching has been supported by its unique experience as a democracy that has been dealing with terrorist attacks since its inception, the combination of theoretical knowledge with Israeli practical experience, and above all the interdisciplinary nature of the field.

The ICT also studies the moral and psychological aspects of dealing with terrorism, and formulates recommendations that strive to reduce the effectiveness of terrorist strategies and help strengthen the public's resilience to this phenomenon.
