Prof. David Nachmias

Ph.D., The University of Oregon

  • Professor Nachmias is the Head of Specialization in Policy and Public Administration, Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy at IDC Herzliya.
    In addition, he serves as Head of the "New Government Project to Israel".
    Professor Nachmias considered as one of the leading scholars in public policy and government studies

    In 1967, he finished his undergraduate studies at Tel Aviv University.
    In 1969 he finished his master's degree at the University of Oregon, USA.
    In 1971 he finished his doctoral studies at the University of Oregon, USA.

    In 1994 he won the prestigious Donald Campbell Award for "Methodological Innovations in Policy Studies", and in 2010 he was awarded the Lifetime signal from the Israeli Association of Political Science.

    Was among the founders of the Department of Public Policy at Tel Aviv University, taught and researched at the University of Kentucky, Harvard, Wisconsin, Washington St. Louis (USA).

    Served as an professional adviser in the Prime Minister Office and the Ministry of Education, as well as Knesset committees, the state comptroller and the center of local government.

    In 2003 he developed the "Israeli Democracy Index" Israel Democracy Institute.

    In 2010 initiated the annual conference of local government in Israel ", the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya
