Dr. Geva Shenkman

  • Dr. Geva Shenkman Lachberg is a clinical psychologist, clinical supervisor, and a senior lecturer at the school of psychology at the Reichman University (IDC Herzliya).
    He works at the clinic at the school of psychology in Reichman University, where he supervises interns in clinical psychology. He also works at his private clinic in Tel-Aviv. Within his clinical work he is seeing patients and supervising psychologists. For over a decade, he worked at the psychiatric division at Sheba Medical Center (Tel-Hashomer Hospital).
    Dr. Shenkman Lachberg got his M.A degree in clinical psychology as well as his Ph.D. degree from Tel Aviv University.
    He is the head of the LGBTQ+ Psychology Lab at Reichman University (IDC Herzliya). The lab leads diverse research which focuses on coping and adaptation processes of LGBTQ+ individuals along the lifespan, from early adulthood through old age.
    Dr. Shenkman Lachberg's research mainly focuses on the relationships between happiness (subjective well-being) and hostile-world scenarios, with an emphasis on the associations between couplehood, parenthood, sexual orientation, aging processes, and mental health, among LGBTQ+ individuals and LGBTQ+ parent families. Special interest is given to the practices which help maintaining psychological well-being in the face of hostile world-scenarios. The studies have implications for therapists, researchers, and policymakers. Dr Shenkman Lachberg's research has been supported by competitive research grants such as the Israel Science Foundation and the Israel National Institute for Health Policy Research.
