Dr. Idit Kalisher | Reichman University

Dr. Idit Kalisher is a senior researcher at the Aaron Institute for Economic Policy at Reichman University. She holds a BA (with honors) in Economics and Business Administration, as well as an MA and a PhD in Economics from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Her research focuses on education and human capital, labor economics, productivity, and inclusive economic growth, with a particular interest in integrating marginalized populations into the Israeli economy.
Her doctoral dissertation explored the economic and behavioral aspects of employment mobility. At the Aaron Institute, Dr. Kalisher's work examines economic disparities within minority communities in Israel—specifically the Arab population and the ultra-Orthodox Jewish community. Her recent research has addressed barriers to academic and labor market integration, Hebrew language proficiency among Arab citizens, and the promotion of quality employment opportunities for ultra-Orthodox women. She is also part of the research team investigating the economic impacts of the October 2023 war on Israel's economy.
In addition to her research, Dr. Kalisher teaches various economics courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She is also an advocate for economic education and literacy for young people and families. Her children’s book In the Forest introduces basic economic principles through short, engaging stories, and she contributes to curriculum development in economics for all age groups.
Dr. Kalisher’s work reflects a strong commitment to both empirical research and public engagement. She promotes data-driven policymaking as a means of addressing inequality and fostering sustainable development, and she works to bridge academic knowledge with practical solutions for the broader Israeli society.
