Prof. Keren Tzur Eyal, PhD, University of California, Santa Barbara, 2004, serves as a senior lecturer at the Sammy Ofer School of Communications at Reichman Univeristy (formerly the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya). Prof. Eyal's research focuses on media content and effects, with a focus on the social and cognitive processes involed in media exposure and use. Her research examines exposure to and effects of media content that carries important implications for public health, including violence, sexuality, and body image. Her research incorporates a developmental perspective and focuses on yound media audiences, including children, adolescents, and emering adults. Also, Prof. Eyal studies the relationships that audiences form with mediated personae (e.g., parasocial relationships) and how these, along with unique viewing behaviors (e.g., binge viewing) mediate the effects of the media on the audience. She teaches courses on theories of mass communication; media health, sexuality, and body image; children, adolescents, and media; and media audiences. Prof. Eyal is a two-time recipient of grants from the Israel Science Foundation to study the topics of media content and effects on adolescents in the contexts of sexuality and body image.
