Oren did his PhD at the Shmunis School of Biomedicine and Cancer Research at Tel Aviv University. Prior to that, Oren received a BSc (cum laude) in Computer Sciences and Biology with specialization in Bioinformatics (aka, computational biology) and an MSc (cum laude) in Computer Sciences with specialization in Bioinformatics. In his research, Oren specialised in large-scale Omics data analysis and studied bacterial genomics and evolution (How do bacteria develop resistance to antibiotics?) and computational immunology ("There is no vaccination against HIV". Is that so?) using different machine learning approaches and different computational tools he developed. In addition, Oren has also previously worked in the software development team of Microsoft's personal assistant (Cortana). Oren has more than 10-years experience with Python programming and since 2015 he has been teaching different programming and data analysis courses at IDC (School of Entrepreneurship) and Tel Aviv University for both undergraduate students (Faculty of Engineering and School of Computer Science) and graduate students (School of Management).
