Former Director of Ministry of Environmental Protection

  • Prof. Uri Marinov is a consultant on Environment and Development and has been working in the field of Environmental Management for the last 43 years both in Israel and abroad, Uri was the first Director General of the Ministry of the Environment and before that the first Director of the Environmental Protection Service in the Ministry of the Interior. In these capacities he was responsible for developing Israel national policies for protecting the country’s environment and natural resources, setting up the organisational structures and creating the professional know-how for the country.

    During 23 years of public service Uri represented Israel in many International organisations including the Mediterranean Action Plane, United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and served among other as the chairman of the Israeli Delegation to the Earth Summit Conference in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.

    In 1998, Uri was appointed as Professor of Environmental Management at the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management of Haifa University and served for 3 years as the head of the department. In 2011 Uri joined the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya as a staff member of the School of Sustainability. In addition to teaching Uri is consulting some of the major companies in the country as well as public and private groups.

    Uri is the author of many books, chapters in books and articles in International Professional Magazines on subjects related to Environmental Management, land use planning, environment and development, environmental impact analysis, sustainable development and related subjects.
