About


Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is the only public university of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Multilingual, international and research-oriented, it is also a modern institution with a personal atmosphere.

 

With more than 7,000 students and approximately 2,400 employees from around the world, our University provides a truly cosmopolitan learning experience. 60% of students are international students, and the majority of staff members and academics have an international background. Our strategic development areas are digital transformation, medicine and health, and sustainable and societal development.

 


Our students can choose between 18 Bachelor degrees and 46 Master degrees, as well as several vocational training and lifelong learning courses. Programmes are generally taught in two languages (French/English or French/German), some in three languages and some entirely in English, in particular at the Master level. All our Bachelor students spend one mandatory semester abroad.

Accommodation


  • The University has 34 student residences with more than 1000 rooms and studios in several towns, including the City of Luxembourg, Esch-sur-Alzette, Noertzange, Obercorn, Mondercange and Dudelange. Along with this, the University of Luxembourg cannot guarantee accommodation for all our students.​ We strongly recommend that applicants also look for alternatives.
  • The minimum monthly rental budget is 450 euros per month.
  • Luxembourg has high living costs, which you should consider when setting up your personal budget.

Location & Facilities


  • Luxembourg, one of the founding states of the European Union, is one of the most intercultural and international societies in the world, with over 170 nationalities living together.
  • There are plenty of leisure activities in the country, including cinemas, bike trails, excursion trails and a wide range of cultural activities, such as jazz concerts, contemporary art expositions at MUDAM, theater in many languages or classical music concerts in one of the most beautiful buildings of Luxembourg City, the Philharmonic.
  • All this is set in the romantic backdrop of the medieval city center of Luxembourg (UNESCO world heritage site since 1994).
