Web of Science Academy provides comprehensive training resources for learning how to perform effective peer reviews. The platform offers educational materials and best practices to help researchers develop their reviewing skills. Users need to create an account, preferably using their Web of Science credentials, to access these valuable learning resources.

 

Online Training Courses: the Academy provides free, online, and on-demand courses designed to support researchers in developing skills related to research integrity and academic publishing. Topics include: good citation, an introduction to peer review, reviewing in the sciences, reviewing in the humanities, and co-reviewing with a mentor.

Certificates are awarded upon course completion, which can be downloaded or printed.

 

Open Peer Reviews in Web of Science

Web of Science Core Collection now includes access to published open peer reviews, allowing researchers to:
read detailed review content and feedback from expert reviewers, cite peer reviews using their assigned DOI numbers, learn from real examples of effective manuscript evaluation, study different approaches to scholarly assessment and criticism.

Community Reviews represent post-publication reviews written by researchers about articles they have read and wish to comment on. These self-motivated reviews offer several benefits: can be written for published papers or preprints, not moderated, and do not require verification, particularly valuable for early career researchers developing reviewing skills, Reviews appear in both document records and reviewer profiles.

Early-Career Researchers: it is recommended to participate in Web of Science Academy courses, create a ResearcherID profile, and gain experience by conducting community reviews.
