Dr. Marian Tehawkho, Head of the Center for Economic Policy of the Arab Society

Dr. Marian Tehawkho is the Head of the Center for Economic Policy of the Arab Society in Israel at the Aaron Institute for Economic Policy, Reichman University. She is a senior lecturer and researcher specializing in labor economics, education economics, and applied econometrics. Her academic work and professional practice reflect a deep commitment to generating research-based insights that can shape long-term public policies for the Arab society in Israel and promote its full integration into the Israeli economy and society.

Over the past decade, Dr. Tehawkho has been a leading contributor to national policy initiatives. She served as an academic advisor to the “Employment 2030 Committee” led by Prof. Zvi Eckstein, and played an active role in the discussions and recommendations that shaped Government Resolution 550 (“Taqaddum”), the five-year socio-economic development plan for the Arab society. She continues to advise the Authority for the Economic Development of Minorities, particularly on employment, education and higher education, Hebrew language acquisition, and youth integration into the labor market.

Alongside her leadership role at the Aaron Institute, Dr. Tehawkho has extensive teaching experience at Reichman University, the Technion, the University of Haifa, and Yezreel Valley College. In these institutions, she has taught applied economics and trained future economists and policymakers. Earlier in her career, she worked as a research assistant at the Samuel Neaman Institute for National Policy Research, where she engaged in strategic projects related to Israel’s economic development.

Her professional activity also extends beyond academia. For nine years, she served as an outside director at Mei Rakat Water Corporation, where she applied her economic and managerial expertise to strengthen transparency, oversight, and governance. Dr. Tehawkho holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Haifa, an M.A. in Economics from the Technion, and a B.A. in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Haifa. The combination of academic excellence, public service, and institutional leadership positions her as a leading figure in shaping economic policy in Israel and advancing the social and economic mobility of the Arab society.
