The conference will begin on Sunday, July 10, at 12am, and run through Tuesday at 2pm.  On each day, we will have plenaries and panel sessions. The reception will take place on Sunday and the traditional dinner will be held on Monday.  On Tuesday, we will offer a guided trip to Jaffa (free).  On Wednesday, we are organizing an optional guided trip to Jerusalem (the cost will be approximately $50). 

The train station at Ben Gurion airport is very conveniently located outside the main terminal. Trains run frequently and stop at all Tel Aviv stations as well as at the Herzliya station (approximately 20 NIS). The train station in Herzliya is a 10 minutes walk from the business district. There are buses (6 NIS) or taxis available (approximately 50 NIS) to transport you from the train station to the Business District, the Herzliya ocean strip, and to the Marina.  

* PLEASE NOTE: Public transportation does not operate from Friday afternoon until Saturday evening. Trains do not operate on Friday and Saturday.

A taxi from the airport costs approximately 200 NIS (60 USD).

Most COVID restrictions have been lifted in Israel. No mask is required (but recommended) and there is no testing requirement upon entry. You only need to fill out a COVID form and present it at check in.

Getting to Campus

Getting to campus is possible by either public transportation or taxi.

The most convenient way to get a taxi is to download the app Gett (Israel does not have Uber), or order one at the concierge desk at your hotel. s

A shuttle will be provided on each day of the conference – from the hotels on the ocean strip in Herzliya (Dan Acadia), the Herzliya Marina (Herods), the business district (NYX Herzliya), and the Herzliya train station (for all participants who are coming from other cities). A timetable of the shuttle will be posted closer to the conference. 

There are many hotel options in Herzliya and in Tel Aviv. None of the hotels are close to Reichman University campus. To make it easier to access the Reichman University campus, we will provide a shuttle to and from campus every day. The shuttle will be from each of the Herzliya hotels listed below. Most other hotels are within a short walking distance from these hotels.

Walking out of campus you’ll find several fine restaurants in close proximity from the West Gate of Reichman University. Alterman Café and Aliza Delli are located across the parking lot - lunch costs approximately 50 NIS.

In the evening, you can find excellent restaurants and bars on the ocean strip, the Marina and at the Business District.

Most restaurants in Herzliya and Tel Aviv are open on Friday and Saturday.

The conference includes a (free) guided trip to Jaffa on the third day and an optional (at cost) guided trip to Jerusalem on Wednesday (registration is required).
If you have additional time and would like to explore other areas of interest, we recommend a few relatively accessible trips nearby.
Apollonia – a beautiful site for an afternoon trip. Only a short drive/taxi ride from the hotel area.
Caesarea – one of the best archeological sites in Israel. Can be reached by train.
Tel Aviv – only 15 minutes away from Herzliya offers a variety of museums, arts, parks, urban treasures, night life, and long sand beaches.

The conference location is equipped with computers, audio visual equipment and internet access. Speakers are kindly asked to bring their power-point slides on a thumb-drive, and as a safety precaution, have a copy of their presentation in an easily accessible internet location such as personal email or Dropbox.

Israel uses New Israeli Shekels (NIS). One US dollar is approximately 3.3 NIS. You cannot use other currencies in most places in Israel. Most ATMs will allow you to withdraw Israeli currency from most foreign accounts. You can find an exchange post at the airport, in various places in each city, and usually at the hotels.
