Deputy Commissioner (ret.)

Sigal Bar Zvi

Former Head of the Operations Division, Israel Police

Deputy Commissioner Sigal Bar Zvi headed the Israel Police’s Operations Division. In this capacity, she was responsible for building up the forces in charge of internal security and public order, preparing them to contend with threat references in routine times and emergencies, directing field units on policing and internal security professions, as well as regulating and coordinating operative forces across Israel.

Under Deputy Commissioner Bar Zvi’s leadership, the Operations Division spearheaded the Israel Police’s operational perception reform as part of the actions taken following the lessons learned from the 2021 Meron crowd rush tragedy and the events of Operation Guardian of the Walls in May of the same year. This change was seen in the Israel’s police rapid and determined response on October 7, 2023, when the Iron Swords War broke out.

Deputy Commissioner Bar Zvi is an expert on internal security and a senior partner in national strategic initiatives in this area.
She has completed her studies at the National Defense College, has a BA in business administration and an MA in policy and government specializing in national security.
