About the Program


  • The new specialization in Computational and Synthetic Biology is offered as part of the M.Sc. program in Computer Science at Reichman University.
  • The specialization was designed to meet the growing global demand for synthetic biology programs. This innovative program integrates studies in the life sciences, engineering, and computer science - fields that are driving breakthroughs across leading industries.
  • The program is designed for individuals who wish to deepen their knowledge in computational and synthetic biology and expand their skill set.
  • The curriculum includes advanced courses in computer science, alongside specialization and advanced courses in bioinformatics, computational biology, AI for biological research, and synthetic circuit design.
  • The program is structured to accommodate working students and offers courses in the afternoons, evenings, and on Fridays. 
  • Students may choose between a thesis track or a non-thesis track that includes a final project. 

Program Details


  • The program offers a flexible curriculum that includes a wide range of elective courses taught by renowned lecturers from top academic institutions.
  • Students in this track actively participate in research conducted in the laboratories of the Scojen Institute for Synthetic Biology and/or in the computational biology research groups. Research areas include algorithm design for life sciences and medicine, microbiome and protein engineering, data analysis, bioinformatics and computational modeling, and bio-design, with attention to ethical, regulatory, and industrial considerations.
  • Students may extend their studies over a period of 3-4 years to suit their professional needs.
  • Prerequisites: An introductory biology preparatory course in the first semester.
  • Most courses are taught in Hebrew, with some offered in English.
