Artificial Intelligence: The Shift That Changed Everything

By Ben Yochelman

How can it be that today, nearly 25% of the code written at Google is generated with the help of artificial intelligence?
How is it possible that the president of Y Combinator, the world’s most prestigious startup accelerator, publicly stated that 95% of the startups in their latest cohort are AI-based?
And how is it that even for something as personal as writing a birthday message to a friend, I instinctively turn to ChatGPT?

These aren’t isolated anecdotes — they are signs of a global transformation.

Over the past two years, we have witnessed a technological shift of historic proportions. Artificial Intelligence has moved from the periphery to the very center of our lives, reshaping how we work, create, communicate, and think. What once seemed like science fiction is now seamlessly integrated into our daily routines.

Today, I had the privilege of attending a fascinating and hands-on workshop on prompt engineering — the art and science of crafting precise instructions that allow AI tools to generate more accurate, creative, and meaningful responses.

What many still fail to realize is that AI doesn’t operate in a vacuum. It responds directly to the way we engage with it. The clarity, context, and intent behind our prompts dramatically influence the outcomes. Learning how to speak to AI — in its language — is becoming a crucial skill for the future.

And here’s the twist: even this very post was written in collaboration with AI. A perfect example of how our relationship with technology is evolving in real time.

I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to the Adelson School of Entrepreneurship for organizing this eye-opening course and providing us, as students, with the opportunity to deepen our understanding of this powerful tool.

We are no longer just users of technology — we are co-creators. And those who learn how to harness these tools wisely will help shape the future.
