Wrapping Up an Incredible Chapter: My Exchange Semester at USC
By Liya Rak, 3rd year student, Entrepreneurship and Business track
As I conclude my exchange semester at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, I find myself reflecting on an extraordinary journey filled with learning, growth, and unforgettable experiences. This chapter has been truly transformative, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a prestigious academic environment.
During this semester, I had the privilege of taking courses in Project Management, Global Leadership, and Digital Innovation as a Competitive Advantage. These classes not only expanded my academic knowledge but also challenged me to refine my English skills through academic readings, engaging presentations, group projects, and in-depth written assignments. Beyond the coursework, I learned how to think critically, solve problems creatively, and adapt to new challenges in dynamic settings.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this experience was the opportunity to collaborate with students and professors from diverse cultural backgrounds. Working in multicultural teams exposed me to different perspectives, problem-solving approaches, and leadership styles. I gained firsthand experience in navigating cross-cultural communication, understanding the value of adaptability, and appreciating the richness of diverse viewpoints. These experiences strengthened my ability to thrive in an interconnected global environment—an invaluable skill for the future.
Beyond academics, my time at USC allowed me to immerse myself in American culture. From experiencing campus traditions and student life to exploring Los Angeles and engaging in local events, I gained a deeper understanding of U.S. values, traditions, and the dynamic energy that defines American university culture. The sense of pride and dedication that students have for their university is truly inspiring, and I found myself embracing this spirit, feeling a deep connection to the Trojan community.
Being exposed to world-class professors and a vibrant learning environment pushed me to think differently, broaden my horizons, and challenge my own limits. The experiences and lessons I’ve gathered here have left a lasting impact on me—both personally and professionally.
As I close this chapter, I take with me a wealth of knowledge, meaningful connections, and newfound confidence. I am excited to apply what I’ve learned and carry these experiences forward into the next stage of my journey.
