The Israeli Guide Dog Center – A Big Family for a Big Mission
The Israeli Guide Dog Center specializes in breeding, training, and providing guide dogs for people who are blind or visually impaired, service dogs for individuals living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and emotional support dogs for children with special needs. The dog-training process can take up to 20 months, depending on the role each dog is being prepared for. Volunteer puppy-raising families play a vital part in the process.
Want to Be Part of Something That Truly Changes Lives?
The Israeli Guide Dog Center is looking for puppy-raising families—volunteers who commit to raising and helping train puppies on their journey to becoming guide dogs, service dogs for individuals living with PTSD, and emotional support dogs for children with special needs.
Why Are You So Important?
The first year of a puppy’s life is crucial. As a puppy-raising family, you will provide:
- Dedicated care and lots of love.
- Basic training during the initial training stage, with support from the Center’s professional team.
- Exposure to a variety of environments and experiences.
You’re not just raising a puppy—you’re laying the foundation for a dog that will change the life of the person it is eventually paired with.
You’ll also become an ambassador for the Center, both on campus and in your everyday life. Every walk, every game, and every hug helps raise awareness about accessibility and people with disabilities.
What’s in It for You?
We promise plenty of loving puppy kisses and the feeling of being part of something truly meaningful.
Just listen to Dor, who raised Cliff:
“It was one of the most incredible gifts I could have received. The process was intense and challenging, but beyond the opportunity to give, I gained an experience that filled my life with light, love, and the chance to meet new people. Knowing that Cliff will help someone else is the real gift.”
