Support Group for Students Dealing with the Loss of a Parent

Coping with the loss of a parent while pursuing academic studies can present significant personal and academic challenges. Alongside the grieving process and the personal experience of loss, academic responsibilities and the demands of everyday life continue.

In recognition of these challenges, Reichman University offers a support group for students who have lost a parent within the past two years.

The group is intended to provide participants with a professional, safe, and supportive space where they can share their experiences and difficulties, meet other students who have experienced a similar loss, and receive tools to help them navigate life alongside grief. The meetings will address, among other topics, challenges related to continuing academic studies and maintaining everyday routines, as well as changes in family, social, and romantic relationships following the loss.

A new group is formed each semester. Each group meets over the course of one semester and includes approximately 10 weekly in-person meetings, facilitated by a clinical social worker.

The meetings are held in person on the Reichman University campus, in the evening, and each meeting lasts approximately an hour and a half. The group is conducted in Hebrew, and participation is free of charge.

The group is open to students from all schools at Reichman University who meet the eligibility requirements. Students for whom the group may be relevant and who are interested in receiving additional information are invited to provide their details through the interest form.
