פרופסור יניב גרינשטין הינו פרופסור מן המניין והדיקן המכהן בבית הספר טיומקין לכלכלה. כמו כן הוא פרופסור במימון בבית הספר אריסון למנהל עסקים, פרופסור אורח בבית הספר ג'ונסון למנהל עסקים באוניברסיטת קורנל שבארה"ב ועמית מחקר במכון האירופאי לממשל תאגידי (ECGI). הוא מחזיק בתארי דוקטורט ומאסטר מאוניברסיטת קרנגי מלון ובתארי ראשון ומאסטר מהטכניון. תחומי המחקר שלו הם במימון חברות, תגמולי מנהלים, ובקשר בין ממשל תאגידי להחלטות פיננסיות בחברות ולשווי חברות.

פרופסור גרינשטין פרסם את מאמריו בכתבי עת מובילים כדוגמת ה Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics , Management Science, JFQA, Oxford Review of Economic Policy. הוא זוכה פרס Sharpe למאמר המצטיין שפורסם בכתב העת JFQA בשנת 2020, זוכה פרס המאמר המצטיין בכנס מימון חברות וממשל תאגידי Boca 2020, זוכה פרס המחקר של המרכז הבינתחומי ב 2016, זוכה פרס תרומה לכתב העת Management Science ב 2014, זוכה פרס המאמר המצטיין שפורסם בכתב העת Journal of Financial Intermediation ב 2006, וזוכה פרס המאמר המצטיין בכנס Southwestern Finance Association ב 2005. כמו כן זכה בפרסים על הצטיינות בהוראה.

שימש בעבר כחוקר אורח ברשות ניירות הערך האמריקנית (SEC), כעורך משנה בכתב העת Management Science וכעורך בכתב העת Corporate Governance: International Review.
לפני שהגיע לאוניברסיטת רייכמן, היה פרופסור גרינשטין פרופסור חבר עם קביעות בבית הספר למנהל עסקים שבאוניברסיטת קורנל.
