Anne Marie Oudemans Radzyner Scholarship

Each year, the school will award a merit-based scholarship to outstanding students based on their academic achievements

The students will be selected from the different academic tracks and the announcement will take place during the dean's honor list ceremony

The scholarship is granted based on academic excellence during the first year of studies and is not influenced by admissions data

This scholarship represents the school’s commitment to recognizing and encouraging exceptional academic performance from the very beginning of the students' academic journey

This scholarship is made possible through the generous donation of Mr. Alexander Radzyner, in loving memory of his late wife, Anne-Marie Oudemans Radzyner z"l. Her inspiring life story is shared below.

Biography - Anne Marie Oudemans Radzyner

Born in 1955, as the 3rd of 4 children, her father was director of Dutch publishing house and her mother a child psychologist. Anne Marie was 12 years old when she lost her mother to cancer

From that young age she had to show true grit and self-reliance to make her way in life. After finishing high school she continued her studies at Amsterdam University where she spent a year as a member of the Student Senate and completed a Master's Degree in Business Management

Following university, she joined the Anglo Dutch multinational Unilever on the Management Trainee program and on completing it was promoted to product manager. After the end of her first marriage in 1990, Anne Marie became a single parent to her children Raoul (born in 1988) and Elisabeth (born in 1990). Not long after, Anne Marie met her later husband Alex Radzyner

In 1989 Anne Marie joined what is now the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences as a lecturer specializing in business management and marketing. At the same time she performed consulting assignments for small and medium sized enterprises as well as teaching a program for enabling recent immigrants to Holland to launch their own businesses. Aged only 52, Anne Marie died after a short illness in July 2007

Throughout her life, Anne Marie believed in the power of education to enable individuals to become intellectually and financially self-reliant. This was reflected in her strong engagement to promote academic and professional excellence as a co-founder of an independent think tank Beter Onderwijs (Better Education) and as an adviser on education policy for the Dutch Liberals, the Volkspartij voor Vrijheid en Democratie (VVD).  Passionate about education and always ready to debate and convince, Anne Marie was also a tireless advocate of women’s rights

Energetic and armed with a biting and irreverent sense of humor, Anne Marie sided with people and institutions that were not afraid to swim against the stream. While her engagement in education and women’s rights was focused on the Netherlands, she was always a supporter of Israel and impressed by the optimism and energy of its people

The history of the IDC/RUNI and its values chime particularly well with what Anne Marie believed in and fought for throughout her life. The Anne Marie Oudemans-Radzyner Excellence Scholarship at the Radzyner School of Law commemorates an extraordinary woman. It is meant to help talented young people of different backgrounds and nationalities, to successfully complete their studies. It is also aimed at encouraging them, when they succeed in life to, in turn, contribute in some way, allowing other young people to fulfil their potential
