St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) is one of Canada’s oldest and most prestigious universities. It is a public primarily undergraduate liberal arts university located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. StFX is a member of the Maple League, a group of primarily undergraduate universities in Eastern Canada. The school was founded in 1853, and currently has approximately 5,000 students.


StFX is home to four Faculties — Arts, Science, Business and Education and is known for its exceptional teaching and research, vibrant student life, close-knit community, and opportunities for faculty and students to make a difference locally and in communities across the globe.

Accommodation


  • Students have the choice of living on campus or off campus. The advantages of on-campus living is the proximity to facilities and events on campus and the convenience of services close at hand.
  • There are a number of options for university residence living although students need to book their campus accommodations as soon as possible to have the benefit of choosing amongst the various residences.
  • To arrange for on-campus housing, exchange students should first indicate that they are interested in this option on the exchange application form.
  • Residence fees vary depending on the style of accommodation and particular residence.

Location & Facilities


  • StFX is situated in the small town of Antigonish, along the north shore of Nova Scotia, one of Canada’s earliest settled regions.
  • It is two hours drive from the provincial capital, Halifax and closer to Europe than Canada’s Pacific Coast.
  • StFX University is primarily a residential campus with the facilities and services, essential to a quality undergraduate education, available on campus.
  • While exchange students are not required to pay StFX tuition fees, they are required to pay several service/ancillary fees.
