How Does it Work?

 

Reichman University signs bilateral exchange agreements with select institutions around the world for a set number of students for each year. As a Reichman University student, you are allowed to enroll in one of our Partner Institutions for one semester abroad – as an exchange student, while at the same time remaining a registered full-time student at Reichman University. Therefore, all tuition fees are paid to Reichman University and are waived to the host institution.

Choosing a program:

 

In order to find the most suitable university from the list of exchange partners, ask yourself:

 

  1. What are the programs and which universities are relevant for my degree here at Reichman University?
  2. What are the costs of the program? What are the costs of living in the country & city where the university is located?
  3. What is the language requirement?
  4. Does the academic calendar of the host institution align with Reichman University’s academic calendar and my final exams?
  5.  What type of courses do I need to take that will fit my requirements?

Requirements:

 

Necessary conditions to apply to the program:

 

  • Good academic and judicial standing, with no previous disciplinary problems at Reichman University.
  • Excellent English skills, in speaking, reading and writing. Successful completion of “Advanced English B” is mandatory before applying to and participating in the exchange program. 
  • Grade point average of 80 and above. Higher GPA awards an advantage.
  • Submit a completed RU Student Exchange Application by the appropriate deadline.
  • Psychology, Communication and Business & Data Analytics students, may only go on exchange in their 7th semester (fall semester of the “fourth year”). This means that you can only participate after you have completed three years of studies.
  • Students applying or planning to apply for any other program (for example: Zell, Rabin, Argov, Aviram, Syracuse, and the like) CANNOT apply for the Student Exchange Program and vice versa.
  • Students interested in applying for the Student Exchange Program must have no outstanding university debts in order to access and fill out the Student Exchange application.

 

* Students who do not meet the above stated conditions, will not be considered to the program.

 

 

Timing:

 


The semester abroad will replace the academic semester at RU except for students going in their 7th semester. Many institutions abroad start their Fall semester in the beginning of September and last through the end of December. (Some universities begin the end of July/August and therefore it's important you do your research to find out the semester dates of the partner universities you are interested in.)

 


Note that this overlaps the end of the summer break at RU, and leaves some time between the end of the semester abroad and the beginning of the second semester at Reichman University.

 

 

Coursework:

 

Reichman University students accepted to the exchange program must verify with their academic coordinator that the courses at the host institution align with their study plan.

 


The list of courses/study plan you have chosen for your semester abroad is subject to final approval by your School's Academic Coordinator and Academic Advisor at Reichman University.

 

 

Tuition:

 


Reichman University students will continue to pay regular tuition at Reichman University. Tuition payment at the host institution is waived for exchange Students.

 


You may be required to pay an additional administrative or “student exchange” fee to the university you visit.

 


Students eligible for an end-of-degree exchange program, specifically those in Psychology, Communications and Business & Data Analytics, will not be charged tuition fees by either Reichman University or the host institution.

 

This is conditional on the successful completion of all Reichman University academic requirements before the exchange.

 

Fafsa Aid:

 


Students who wish to borrow FAFSA loans during their degree CANNOT be an exchange student at all in an institution located in the USA, whether for a semester or a year.

 

  • If the student wants to borrow FAFSA loans during his/her degree and be an exchange student for one semester or a year, s/he may only be a student in another foreign institution located outside of the USA, if that institution is also Title IV (FAFSA) eligible.
  • Please contact Rina Haller at rina@afidc.org to verify the list of FAFSA approved universities where students can spend a semester or a year as RU exchange students.

 

Reichman University graduate or undergraduate programs that allow a student to study in the U.S. or to have an internship/externship outside of Reichman University for any period of time during their degree is not eligible for Title IV aid (FAFSA LOANS).

Accommodations:

 


Reichman University students will get some information and help in finding proper housing, but exchange students will be responsible for their own housing arrangements.

 


Financial Responsibility:

 


Exchange students will be responsible for their own expenses including travel, accommodations, health insurance and all other expenses.

 

Note: Please pay attention to the various university expenses required at various universities, but especially at US institutions. It is your responsibility to look into the specific fees and ensure you are able to cover them prior to your application.

 

Other Fees:

 

Students are responsible for medical and travel insurance, as well as the cost of travel, visa, housing, books, food, and all other misc. costs while abroad.

 

Medical & Travel Insurance:

 

Reichman University does not evaluate or approve insurance policies on behalf of partner institutions and cannot sign, certify, or issue official documentation relating to a student's medical insurance coverage.

 

Credit Conversion:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Please advise with your academic coordinator regarding your credits conversion in case you are not studying in a European country.

 

The credit conversion for MA courses is equal to the credit conversion for BA courses.
