Avri Schechter

Director of the Institute

Avri Schechter brings over a decade of expertise in developing national economic policies across several domains including energy, renewable energy, energy storage technologies, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas emission reduction. He has played a pivotal role in consulting government ministries on the formulation and implementation of national plans, including setting long-term targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and enhancing energy efficiency-targets that serve as the foundation for government actions and strategies for the coming decade.

In addition to policy development, Avri led large-scale projects and research initiatives. His work includes conducting techno-economic assessments at the national level, such as cost analyses of policy measures, developing methodologies and computational tools to monitor and evaluate policy effectiveness, and building advanced economic models across energy-intensive sectors, including infrastructure, cities, buildings, industry, transportation, and electricity.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Sustainability from Reichman University and a Master’s degree in Public Policy from Tel Aviv University.
