The Annual Arison ESG Center Event

We were proud to host our annual Arison ESG Center event this week, where we had the honor of welcoming Professor Oliver Hart, Nobel Laureate in Economics (2016) and faculty member at Harvard University, in the presence of Shari Arison, David and Dorin Arison, Jason Arison and the team of Ted Arison Family Foundation.

Professor Hart presented a fascinating talk based on his joint work with Professor Luigi Zingales of the University of Chicago, arguing that investors care not only about financial returns but also about the social and moral consequences of corporate decisions. To align corporate behavior with these broader preferences, he highlighted Investor Assemblies as a practical and innovative solution—representative groups of investors who, inspired by the model of citizens’ assemblies, learn, deliberate, and advise on how companies should vote, lobby, and act on issues that shape society. This approach offers a meaningful way to give shareholders a genuine voice that reflects both their economic interests and their ethical values.

Following the lecture, a panel featuring Dr. Ruth Dagan, Uri Levine, and Ella Alkalay offered rich perspectives from law, finance, and business. Their discussion underscored the growing relevance of shareholder voice, responsible corporate conduct, and the changing expectations placed on companies.
The event was moderated by Professor Niron Hashai and guests also enjoyed a musical interlude by the Reichman University band, adding a warm and celebratory spirit to the occasion.
