This week, the Arison ESG Center Internship Program toured Bazan Group — one of Israel’s leading energy companies, located in Haifa.
The visit opened with a lecture by Adv. Eli Mordoch, Corporate Secretary, who presented the group, its strategy, and its activities across various fields, with an emphasis on environmental issues and energy supply for the Israeli economy.
Adv. Hagit Ganisch Gil, Head of ESG at Bazan and a member of the Arison ESG Center’s Steering Committee, then presented the group’s sustainability work, including its sustainability report and targets. Key topics included carbon emissions reduction, hazardous waste reduction, and investment in communities affected by the Swords of Iron War in the Gaza envelope and northern Israel.
“We are leading change in order to create real impact. For this to happen, a shift in the entire organizational culture is required, alongside a practical and realistic action plan,” Hagit said.
The highlight of the tour was a meeting with the Chairman of the Board, Maj. Gen. (res.) Moshe Kaplinsky, who spoke about corporate responsibility during wartime, the group’s adoption of ESG over the past decade, and the importance of entrepreneurship and leadership in a changing industrial world.
Thank you to Bazan Group for the hospitality and fascinating tour.
