July 7 marked the concluding session of Campus Encounters 2025! Over the course of two months, participating students, from the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy at Reichman University and the Al-Qasemi Academic College in Baqa al-Gharbiyye, took part in a series of lectures and interactive workshops exploring the meaning of a genuinely shared society in Israel. The program leaders guided students through a meaningful learning process that fostered their understanding of one another’s cultural roots, identity, and perspectives.
Group discussions and personal conversations addressed complex political and social issues—but more importantly, they focused on the question of how to build a shared future. As Abed El Rahman Mijadli, a student at Al-Qasemi Academic College reflected, the experience was “a unique opportunity to get to know students from diverse backgrounds on a deeper level, to break down barriers, and to build honest and open dialogue. I felt that during the meetings, we didn’t just talk—we truly listened.
It made me think differently, feel a sense of partnership, and believe in the power of genuine dialogue to change reality.” Sagi Obergout, a student from the Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy stressed that the program “helps shatter all preconceived notions, and allows you to see the individual, rather than the stereotype.
I truly believe that when we sat down to talk, whether it be in our own university, or in Al-Qasemi College, we could speak truthfully and honestly about the most sensitive of things, just like human beings would, every talk I had there felt productive and helpful towards understanding how to heal a fractured society".
