Within the framework of our teaching and professional training programs, participants develop initiatives and projects that explore the use of music as an intervention, therapeutic, and educational tool through “Music for Dialogue” processes. Many of these initiatives have been implemented in the participants’ professional settings. The following are a few examples of such initiatives:

Initiatives in Therapeutic Contexts

  •  Using music as a tool for emotional processing in a preparatory group for adoptive parenthood.
  • A music-based support group for women over 65 who care for spouses with dementia or Parkinson’s disease.
  • Integrating music into individual and group therapy processes for parents of premature babies hospitalized in a neonatal intensive care unit.
  • A music-facilitated group for processing war experiences among soldiers in mandatory service coping with post-traumatic symptoms following the Swords of Iron War.
  • Using music in a support group for bereaved grandparents.
  • Music-based emotional therapy for at-risk minors removed from their homes by court order and placed in out-of-home settings.
  • Incorporating music into a therapeutic group for mothers whose children have been placed in out-of-home care.

Initiatives in Educational Contexts

  • Using music to facilitate emotional expression and build social skills in school classes for children on the autism spectrum.
  • Sharing encouraging songs and messages with school employees who are not always in the spotlight, as a recognition of their contribution.
  • Promoting inclusive processing and discourse through songs in an integrated school for children with and without disabilities.
  • Partnering with a nursing home, where students and residents shared and discussed favorite songs.
  • Creating a music-based encouragement program for children and adolescents hospitalized in a dialysis ward.
  • Bringing together Jewish and Arab teenagers from the same city to create a video “anthem,” based on sounds recorded in their favorite spots around the city.
  • Teens distributing uplifting messages to their neighbors in mailboxes and on cars, accompanied by a QR code linking to a selected song on YouTube.
