The momentum of entrepreneurship studies at IDC Herzliya accelerated in 2017 with the Council for Higher Education’s approval to begin registration for a double-major bachelor's degree program in Entrepreneurship, the first of its kind in Israel.

In 2017, IDC Herzliya gained more international recognition for excellence in research and teaching and in academic innovation when it was included for the first time in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as the Shanghai Ranking, which ranks institutions of higher education around the world. Its high ranking on this index placed IDC Herzliya alongside the world's leading universities.

This is the year that work began on the dormitories project at IDC Herzliya, an exciting development that has been long awaited. In April, construction began on two new dormitory buildings, with new and fully equipped housing units for 500 students.
